ンギンビ・バカンバ・ルヴェは1977年にコンゴ民主共和国キンシャサに生まれ、キンシャサ美術学院で学んだ。彼の制作は、サプールやラ・サップの文化に着目し、色彩を通して記憶や声、文化的アイデンティティを表現する。祖国の社会的背景に影響を受けながら、装いを単なる外見ではなく、世界における自己の姿勢や主張として捉えている。「Interior / Exterior」シリーズでは、こうした関心が空間やオブジェへと広がり、内と外、個人と共同体の境界が溶け合う中で、文化が生き続ける存在として描き出されている。

Ngimbi Bakambana Luve was born in 1977 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa. His practice engages with the culture of the Sapeurs and La Sape, using painting as a living language through which colour carries memory, voice, and identity. Shaped by the social realities of his homeland, Luve explores cultural expression as an attitude and assertion of presence rather than mere appearance. Drawing from everyday environments and visual culture, his work reflects La Sape’s philosophy of elegance and self-definition. In his Interior / Exterior series, these ideas expand into space and objects, dissolving boundaries between inner and outer worlds and affirming culture as a living, evolving force.
